Gerry Granovsky
Gerry Granovsky has been involved in credit and financial analysis over a 35+ year career, applying modeled and theoretical analysis to operational execution. Mr. Granovsky has extensive credit analysis and financial services experience, covering Technology, Telecommunications and Media industries at various financial institutions.
In his roles, he observed the ins and outs of challenging scenarios, engaged the participants and stakeholders to make connections to deliver the final product.
Mr. Granovsky joined Moody’s Investors Service in 2005 as a Vice President, after spending most of his career in the financial services industry covering media and telecommunications companies since 1992. Mr. Granovsky has been promoted to Vice President – Senior Credit Officer and to Senior Vice President during his tenure at Moody’s.
During his career at Moody’s, Gerry Granovsky served several roles in North America’s Corporate Finance Group. Most recently, he was the primary liaison between CFG and MIS Technology in implementing new partnerships between the rating groups and the technology teams. Previously, he led the CFG effort on a business transformation project to replace the core financial analytics program for internal and external use. Gerry was also a member of the MIS Cyber Risk team which helps build Moody's expertise in managing the increasing cyber risks as they relate to the overall risk assessment framework. Mr. Granovsky also chaired speculative grade rating committees across New York CFG teams.
Previously, Mr. Granovsky covered a broad portfolio of technology and IT services companies, including high profile investment grade and speculative grade hardware companies, electrical manufacturing services providers and IT distributors.
Prior to his work on the Technology team, Mr. Granovsky covered the North American telecom service and infrastructure companies and provided back up coverage for Latin American telecom analysts. Mr. Granovsky was regularly involved in cross-industry rating discussions and analysis, including broadcast, cable, retail, services and technology issuers. Mr. Granovsky was a frequently featured speaker at numerous investor and regulatory conferences focusing on technology and telecommunications issues and was also a frequent participant in print and broadcast interviews.
A sample of companies under his direct purview were ADP, Apple, Arrow Electronics, Avnet, Lexmark, NCR, Pitney Bowes and Xerox. Previously, he covered AT&T, American Tower, along with major incumbent and rural telecom providers, wireless operators, tower companies, data centers, fiber carriers and CLECs.
As part of his responsibilities, Gerry was instrumental in developing and updating Moody’s rating methodologies for the Global Distribution and Supply Chain Services, Communications Infrastructure and the Telecommunications industries.
Mr. Granovsky takes a serious role in mentoring junior analysts and taught several training courses on capital structures, cash flows and default red flags. He has participated in all junior analyst mentoring and ambassador programs that Moody’s CFG has run over the last decade. He was also an active participant in Moody’s Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
Prior to Moody’s, Mr. Granovsky spent over a decade at The Bank of New York’s media & telecommunications group, where he had extensive experience in originating and structuring transactions. Mr. Granovsky also spent over two years in The Bank of New York’s restructuring division overseeing distressed loans. Mr. Granovsky had a brief tenure living the entrepreneurial dream as part of an executive team of a start-up cable network.
Mr. Granovsky received his BS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and MBA from Columbia University in New York, NY.
